
October 23, 2023 marks the beginning of Red Ribbon Week. With the Mission of Red Ribbon Week being to help keep kids drug-free. These students along with Mayor Hasten signed the Red Ribbon Week Proclamation.


Reminder: South School Open House for Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade will be held on Monday, August 14th at 6:15pm. Please stop by and drop off your school supplies, take pictures with your child’s teacher, and gain information about the upcoming year. A fun treat for families will be the Kona Ice Truck parked outside of South School. 20% of all sno-cone sales will go back to South School for future planned activities throughout the school year. Please enjoy a sno-cone and support the South School Activity Fund at the Kona Ice Truck. If you are unable to attend the Open House, please watch for the information to come home with your child during the first week of school.
Kindergarten Orientation is Tuesday, August 15th for students with the last name starting with A-L from 8:00am-9:00am, and M-Z from 9:30am-10:30am. Information regarding start days for kindergarten students is being sent through the postal mail system. If you do not receive your back to school packet in the mail, please call the South School office, (217) 826-5411.
School begins on Tuesday, August 15th for 1st and 2nd grade students. Students will be dismissed at 11:15. Neither breakfast nor lunch will be served. Students' first full day of school with a regular 2:50 dismissal time is Wednesday, August 16th. Doors open at 7:45am each morning.

The May Board of Education Meeting scheduled for 6:00 this evening will be held in the Junior High School Library rather than at the Unit Office.

The 2022-23 School Calendar has been amended due to an Emergency Day being used making the last day for students and teachers Tuesday, May 23.
Also the 2023-24 School Calendar has been approved and is available on the district website.

Due to continued power outage, all after school practices are cancelled for this afternoon.

The power and phone system are currently out at MHS, MJHS, and North Elementary.
The City of Marshall is aware and working to restore power. Students are safe and sound. We will still dismiss at our regularly scheduled times. We will make a decision on practices and after school activities by 2:30.

Due to the Winter Storm Warning in effect overnight and throughout tomorrow, Marshall Schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, January 25.
