On Wednesday, the Cubs traveled to Robinson to compete in the annual Raider Invitational.

With 18 schools competing, this was one of the Cub’s biggest meets thus far this season. Facing stiff competition against schools like Newton Jasper County, Almont Lutheran, and Paris Mayo. The Cubs look to ride off the momentum of the boys’ and girls’ team win at Sarah Scott the week prior as fuel coming into the meet. Having an average time of 11:53.6 across the five starters against Sarah Scott, the marshal boys’ team are top contenders to win.

Coming off a sub 13 performance the last meet, Lady Cub Brynna Farrell poses as one of the runners to beat on the girls’ side as well.

The boys’ team, this time led by Grayson Edwards with an 11:49 3200; finished 2nd out of 18 teams with a combined low score of just 82 points. With 9th-place 12:04, 18th-place 12:20.9, 23rd-place 12:42.4, and 31st-place 12:54 finishes from teammates Griffin Thompson, Chase Paulson, Cooper Morey, and Emmet Maurer; the Cubs lived up to all the expectations going into the meet. Fellow Cubs Owen Ockerman, Sam Wernz, and Isaiah York also ran well, running 15:14.3, 15:21.7, and 15:50.2 times to each finish in 88th, 96th, and 108th place respectively. Proving once again the great depth of this team.

The Lady Cubs finished with a respectable 11th-place, 261 point finish. Brynna Farrell once again led the way for the girls, finishing 7th out of 161 girls with a 14:10.9 time. Teammates Caroline Nave finished 39th with a 15:59.6, Carrigan Crumrin 43rd in 16:04, Molly Cooper finished 89th with a 17:41.8, and Charlotte Reed finished 158th with a 25:10.9 time. The squad finished with great times as a whole.

The Cubs will have their conference meet on Monday, October 5th on their home course at Mill Creek.
