On Thursday, the Cubs traveled to Terre Haute, Indiana to take on Sarah Scott and St. Patrick middle school.

The boys team; led by the trio of Grayson Edwards, Griffin Thompson, and Chase Paulsen, Edwards won the individual race in an 11:06 two-mile time, followed by Thompson in 11:11, and Paulsen in 11:19 for the strong 1-2-3 finish. Cooper Morey finished 4th overall in 12:11.

The Cub’s fifth scorer, Owen Ockerman, rounded out Marshall’s starting five with an impressive 8th-place finish in 13:41. With 4 of Marshall’s scoring runners finishing in the top 5 followed by an 8th-place overall finish, the Cubs earned a dominating win with a low score of 18 points, beating out second place St. Patrick by over 20.

The Cub’s depth continued beyond their top five, with Sam Wernz finishing 10th overall in 14:14, while Isaiah York placed 15th in 14:50. Lucas Clark rounded out Marshall’s eight runners by finishing 17th in 16:45.

The girls’ side performed similarly well, also winning their meet, scoring 28 points. It was a close race down to the very end, with the Lady Cubs just edging out St. Patrick by 1 point; taking a combined team effort of all five runners to come out on top against St. Patrick.

The girls were once again led by Brynna Farrell, who finished 1st in her race in 12:56, running an impressive sub 13 minute two mile. Farrell was followed by followed by teammates Caroline Nave, who placed 4th in 15:01; Carrigan Crumrin, who finished 5th in 15:54; Molly Cooper, who finished 6th in 16:30; and Charlotte Reed, who rounded out Marshall’s five with a 12th-place finish in 21:02.

Marshall will travel to Robinson Wednesday, September 30th to compete on the Nuttall Middle School Invitational.
