LIC Champions

On Tuesday, the Marshall Lions traveled to Robinson for this year’s LIC Championship. Conference is always a smaller scale meet for the Lions with just 8 teams total. But don’t let the meet’s size fool you, with runners like Paris’s Harrison Hays and Quad Berger from Olney, the Lions faced stiff competition. With temperatures on meet day ranging from 88 to 90 degrees and the cork course having narrow, rugged trails, the Lions were presented with a fun little challenge.

This year’s conference champions, the girls’ team won the title by a wide margin with a low score of 34 points and an average time of 21:08.7.

The Lady Lions were led by All-Conference runners Madeleine Fox and Grace Thompson to finish 1st and 2nd in 18:58.8 and 19:20.7. Teammate Addie Nave came in 4th in 20:21.2 to earn herself an All-Conference bid as well. Teammates Myah Boyd and Olivia Moseley also ran well, with Boyd finishing 13th in 22:17.4 and Moseley finishing 23rd in 24:45.3.

There were also many great performances on the boys’ side as well. Senior Steven Hendrixson earned All-Conference honors after finishing 10th in 17:18. Teammate Thomas Weber finished within the fold with an 18th place 18:17.3 finish. Brycyn Cassagne finished 26th in 19:03; Henry Arthur and Jacob Weber finished 34th and 35th in 20:11.4 and 20:14.8; Charlie Fox finished 37th in 20:31.2. Cooper Crumrin finished 47th in 22:45.5. The squad would go on to finish 4th overall with 103 points and a 19:00 average.

Marshall will travel to Peoria on Saturday to take part in the 48th Annual Patriot Invitational. Good Luck Lions!
