The Lady Lions closed out their season on Tuesday at the IHSA Mattoon Regional, finishing 9th with a combined 544 strokes.

Marshall faced a strong regional field led by Moweaqua Central A and M, who were the team champions with a low 393 stroke score.

The regional was a test of consistency and patience for the Lady Lions. Facing potential elimination, every missed fairway, difficult approach, and extra putt added pressure to the final team rankings.

Peyton Edwards led the squad with 124 strokes, putting her just 12 strokes behind the final qualifying spot of 112 strokes, tying for 32nd overall. Edwards was followed by teammates Evangeline Hutson and Ellie Delp, who also tied with 131 strokes, and Emma Delp finished with 158 strokes.

The regional pitted the Lady Lions against multiple programs capable of finishing with low score and individual rounds in the 80s and 90s range of strokes. For a developing program, competing in that environment provides an opportunity to learn how to manage the pressure and consistency needed to advance during postseason play.
