The Marshall Girls Track season ended on Saturday with the State Track Finals.
8 Girls qualified for the state meet with Ella Mattas in the Shot Put, Marlee Heighton in the Long Jump and 100, Madeleine Fox and Molly Farrell in the 1600, Grace Thompson in the 3200, the 4 x 800 team of Fox, Thompson, Myah Boyd, Lilly Ross, with Addie Nave as the alternate, and the 4 x 400 team of Fox, Farrell, Heighton, and Aubree Shaffer.
In the pre-lims on Thursday, the Lions had some strong performances that came up just short with the 4 x 800 team running a 10:09.61 for 14th place, the 4 x 400 team running a 4:11.83 for 13th place, Madeleine Fox running a seasons best 1600 in 5:14.03 for 14th place, and Marlee Heighton in the 100 with a time of 13.21 and the Long Jump with a jump of 4.66 meters.
Advancing to the finals were Molly Farrell in the 1600 with the 2nd best pre-lim time of 4:58.82, and Ella Mattas in the Shot Put with a toss of 37 feet, 1 inch.
On Saturday, in the Finals, Ella Mattas would place 10th with her distance of 37 feet, 1 inch.
Grace Thompson ran a personal best time of 12:00.65 in the 3200, good for 22nd.
And Molly Farrell finished off her decorated MHS Track career with a 4th place finish in the 1600, with a time of 5:02.11.
As the saying goes, you had a great track season if it ends on the blue track at EIU. Congrats to all of the girls on their accomplishments.
